Ten years ago, everyone told us to use it for parking, but we planted grass and crab apples in our courtyard instead. The aim was to provide a better view all year round and shade in the summer. Besides, if we wanted a view of gridlocked cars, we can always visit any competing business park.

We’ve got a few more years yet before they fully deliver on the shade promise. In the meantime, we’ll just enjoy the colours and the view. It’s got a name now – biophilic design – so it must be good. The birds enjoy the free food whatever it’s called.
